The series between Pakistan and Australia continues as Pakistan take on the host nation in the 3rd T20I match on Friday in Perth. Aussies defeated Pakistan on Tuesday as the class batsman Steve Smith hit an unbeaten 80. Hosts Australia managed to edge out Pakistan by 7 wickets in Canberra and go up 1-0 in the 3 matches 20-20 series. Australia is an unstoppable force in cricket. But in the shortest version of the game, they have struggled to come to grips with the conditions. But they have been solid in all the games played on home soil thus far in 2019. It is due to the importance of being able to identify specialists at the right time. Pakistan somehow managed to hang on to their number 1 ranking but their performances are getting weaker and they are finding it tough to justify the number 1 position. The 3-0 sweep at the hands of Sri Lanka in their own backyard seems to have dented their confidence. Despite having made several changes the results stay the same.
Pakistan team preparations
Babar Azam was the batsman for Pakistan again as the batting collapsed once he fell. Iftikhar Ahmed tried hard to arrest the slide hitting a 34 ball 62 and provide a sound backbone to the innings. However, all this came to nothing when Steve Smith hammered that 51 balls 80 to take Australia to a victory. Pakistan’s total of 150 for 6 was nowhere enough for the tourists. Batsmen other than Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed batted well but others were unable to score quicker than run a ball. Fakhar Zaman was especially under pressure to perform as he has failed consistently. Imam Ul Haq in all probability will replace him and fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain might get a look in to take care of the in-form Aussie lineup.
Australia team preparations
Although it was David Warner stealing the headlines most of the time with some sensational batting, it was his contemporary Steve Smith who was the main reason for the Australian victory as he hit a terrific 80 in the second game to guide the host nation home. The Aussie batting was impressive again and the Australian bowlers kept troubling the tourists to make it impossible for them to score runs at a rate competitive enough. Billy Stanlake might be brought back in the side for the last match replacing Kane Richardson.
Although Australia is leading 1-0 in the series, it does not indicate their dominance in the two games including the washout in Sydney. Pakistan has not been competitive either with bat and ball. Their batsmen have not been informed or not even close to being in form. Australia is flying high on the other hand with their top batsmen being in great form and their bowlers having a clear edge over Pakistani batsmen. You can expect Australia to wrap up the series in Perth.
