Sunrisers became the first team to qualify for the playoffs with just 12 points in the history of IPL. This is basically a reflection of the number of closely contested affairs the team was involved in. When they won their matches they won with big margins while when they lost it was closely contested games. This helped the net run rate a great deal and the team now finds itself in the playoff stage of the tournament. Delhi performed far better than SRH as they won 9 matches out of 14 and ended up with 18 points that mean 6 points clear of SRH. But now they are in the same boat as Hyderabad because they could not finish in the top 2 in the league stage of the competition.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Preparations
You can expect a bit more consistency from Hyderabad than compared to the unpredictable Delhi Capitals side. They are pretty much guaranteed to produce competitive performances. SRH has struggled with the batting after the departure of Johny Bairstow and David Warner and will need people like Martin Guptill to perform desperately. They have some quality players who can get them to good totals such as Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, and Wriddhiman Saha. The bowling attack will be manned by the ever dependable Rashid Khan, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed. It is a better bowling attack than Delhi Capitals. Kane Williamson got some runs under his belt in the last match and that is a huge boost for the SRH side. The lack of substantial contributions from Yusuf Pathan and Vijay Shankar is the main worry for the team.
Delhi Capitals Team Preparations
DC won their last match pretty comfortably and on the turning track, Rushabh Pant played a great knock to guide his team to victory. The eliminator will be played at Vishakhapatnam which has one of the flattest pitches in the country. DC will be glad about these conditions as they are armed with players like Pant, Colin Ingram, Shreyas Iyyer, Prithwi Shaw, and Shikhar Dhawan who incidentally is their highest run-getter for the season. Their bowling vows have increased with an injury to Kagiso Rabada but his replacement Trent Boult is a world-class bowler as well but hasn’t enjoyed similar success in the Indian conditions. The pitch might offer some assistance to spinners so Amit Mishra and Axar Patel will have important roles to play. They will have to decide between Keemo Paul and Chris Morris as the all-rounder option. Chris Morris with his greater experience might get the nod ahead of Paul.
Delhi Capitals go into this match with 9 victories from 14 matches and this means they are in better overall form. Sunrisers are still struggling with their batting issues with the departure of their trusted openers. But they have played more matches in the playoff stages than DC and have a slightly better bowling attack. However, considering everything Delhi Capitals start as favorites to win this match.
