Sunrisers Hyderabad is getting back on the IPL playing field after a gap of 6 days which is extremely long considering the hectic scheduling of the tournament. They lost their last match against K11P by 6 wickets. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, are coming into the match on a winning note with a victory over highly ranked KKR. But the return of David Warner to the Sunrisers team has meant that they have a belligerent opening partnership in Warner and Johnny Bairstow which proved to be pretty much unstoppable in the initial rounds of IPL 2019.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Preparations
The success of the opening pair has one negative effect on the Sunrisers team and that is the middle order is not getting sufficient time out in the middle and it is vital for the prospects of the team. Vijay Shankar is in good form and is capable of hitting big sixes. An impending return of the regular captain Williamson is only likely to bolster the batting side. The finishers are not contributing in a big way yet. Yusuf Pathan and Manish Pandey will have to start performing if Sunrisers are to keep on making ground in the IPL. The bowling attack has been decent so far with Rashid Khan making a contribution every time along with Sandeep Sharma, Siddhartha Kaul, and Nabi. But for the Hyderabad fortunes to stay alive Bhuvaneshwar Kumar must come good. If he does this is the side to look out for apart from the obvious front runners.
Delhi Capitals Team Preparations
To its credit, this young team has kept its nerve in the tournament and is still very much in contention for a spot in the knockout stage. They managed to restrict KKR to a gettable score in their last encounter despite a late charge from Andre Russell with good steady bowling by Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma, Chris Morris, and Rabada. Then Shikhar Dhawan came to the party with a typical inning that had more boundaries than sixes and yet had the desired strike rate. Very few people in the world can do it this way. Virat Kohli is another example of it. Rushabh Pant supported him well and almost finished the match for DC before leaving Colin Ingram to finish the chase with a couple of hefty blows at the end. This win would have raised the DC confidence quite a bit as they beat one of the top contenders for IPL 2019 convincingly and their biggest worry has been resolved with the return to form of Shikhar Dhawan.
All things said it is clear that despite the last results going in favor of Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers are in good form overall and are playing at home in this match. They also have a more experienced side. So I will go with Sunrisers on this one.
